We depend on our fantastic, dedicated volunteers to keep the store running. From the window displays, to working the till, to writing these blog posts; each volunteer brings their valued skills to the table, and all for a great cause.
Today we spoke with Sophie who’s been with us since 2012, and asked her of her experience helping out in store.
What’s your role here at Oxfam Mill Rd?
I’m a voluntary trainee deputy manager.
Wow, that’s quite a mouthful.
Yep if you can think of a more punchy name, let me know!
What made you decide to volunteer for Oxfam?
It’s a really good atmosphere in store. It’s really nice. And Oxfam is a charity that I’ve supported for a very long time also. But this shop in particular is very cool!
What do you enjoy most about volunteering here?
I manage the Vintage section here in store, which is quite expansive. I love dressing up the mannequins and laying out the window displays. You can find some real treasures!
What would you say to those who are thinking about volunteering here at Oxfam Mill Rd?
You can find out more about volunteering for Oxfam via the Oxfam website. Alternatively you can pop in store or email Mungo the manager at oxfamshopf2504(at)oxfam.org.uk.
Check in again soon when we’ll be catching up with more volunteers in store.
